You may think that you’ve seen it all when traveling to Iceland, but if your itinerary includes a stop at one of the country's most iconic and haunting photography locations-the Sólheimasandur airplane wreckage. You can find this wreckage between Skógafoss waterfall and the town of Vik on the Southern coast. The high winds and rainy weather added the perfect moody backdrop for this image so I decided to use a Moody Lightroom preset and finalize in Photoshop with a cinematic crop.
Some of the best moments in my photography career have come from capturing landscapes that are off the beaten path. I get this invigorating feeling when I explore a remote location and eye up a new shot. I get so excited when I know that I’m creating something truly unique! On our road trip across the United States we stopped at lots of random locations just off the highway. This shot was taken somewhere in Wyoming. As we made making our way to Yellow Stone National Park we saw these rock formations in the distance and couldn’t resist jumping out of the car to grab a few shots.
