  • The Lookout

    The Lookout

Hallstatt, Austria is an astonishing little town in Austria’s Salzkammergut region. Surrounded by towering mountains and fresh lakes, it’s no wonder that Hallstatt is a popular international destination. For this shot I climbed up the village stairs to a lookout point that allowed for a beautiful view of the rooftops and church steeple. I love how the mist was dancing around the mountains in the background that morning. For the edit I went for a monochromatic palette to compliment the cool morning air.

  • Cafe Sunset in Paris

    Cafe Sunset in Paris

This is one of those images that can tell many stories. The more you look at the subtle details the more the scene comes to life. As the sun set that day it highlighted the beautiful details of Parisian life in the summer time. Relaxing near the Seine River while enjoying a cappuccino and watching people go by in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. From the couple crossing the street to the waft of smoke being highlighted by the setting sun, it takes me back to that very day. I’ll always remember the smell of fresh pastries and the hustle bustle of the city that is uniquely Paris. To capture this image I used my Sony a7R2 with a FE 16-35 lens F4. Settings: 1/320 sec, f/8, ISO 100. To process this digital image I used the Film Emulation Collection (Kodak Portra 160) Lightroom presets and profiles. • Photography | Arc De Triomphe

    Photography | Arc De Triomphe

The Arc De Triomphe is probably one of the most recognizeable monuments in all of Paris. People flock to catch a glimpse of it or to take their coveted travel photos in front it. It's definitely a hot spot in the city. For this photo I wanted to capture the atmosphere, or maybe more appropriately the frenzy of people and traffic that it attracts on a nightly basis. I stood in the middle of the street on a medium and took shot after shot of the traffic until I had just the perfect mix of lights and blur.

  • Amsterdam Nights

    Amsterdam Nights

This is a photo that I took a few years back in Amsterdam. Taking cityscape images at night can be a little challenging at times. You have so many different light sources to compete with and a wide spectrum of colours. If your exposure runs too long things can look orange and blown out. Typically I try to use a wider aperture to allow more light in and cut down on my exposure time to avoid that orange look. (This image is shot at f5.6 and 30 seconds). When processing a night image I always start in Lightroom using the Creative Flow Lightroom Presets and Profiles to get the overall look, and to finalize the image I bring it into Photoshop where I sharpen it and in this case applied a cooler profile through Camera RAW using the Lightroom Profiles.

  • Mountain Sun Flares

    Mountain Sun Flares

Mountain Sun Flares - This is a photo that I took a few years ago in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. I was on an early morning hike with all of my gear in tow. While exploring the sites I came across this crooked path and decided to stop for a shot. The heat from the summer sun was highlighting the trees and blanketing the grass. I thought it was quite a beautiful scene. I was able to catch some really interesting sun flares in the shot too which added to the overall charm. The deep blue sky reflecting on the ice-capped mountains in the background was the cherry on top. Can you imagine living in one of these homes and waking up to this view every day? What a life that would be. Quote: "May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds." Edward Abbey

  • Landscape Photography | New Experiences

    Landscape Photography | New Experiences

I always enjoy going back and editing photos from Antelope Canyon. The rock formations are all so varied and uniquely shaped. A quick crop can transform your shot into something entirely new. I also love diving back into the memories that go along with it. Travel opens you up to new experiences and the things that you see and capture can be an endless fountain of creative inspiration when you get back. This day is still a source of inspiration for me years later. Quote: "A mind stretched by new experiences can never go back to its old dimensions." Oliver Wendell Holmes

  • Pont Alexandre Paris Tim Martin

    Pont Alexandre Paris Tim Martin

Pont Alexandre III is one of the most beloved bridges in all of Paris. The sculptures and intricate that surround it date back to the late 1800s and they still maintain the same amount of beauty and influence to this day. There's definitely a romantic feeling that hits you when you walk across it. On this particular evening, I was blessed with a sunset that was bursting with color. I wanted to capture an angle that I haven't seen before so I lined up the Eiffel tower and started experimenting. In the end, I was able to capture all of the elements that I wanted in the frame while still keeping the bridge as the star of the show. Editing it was almost as much fun as being there in the moment and seeing it with my own eyes.

  • Summer Nights in Paris

    Summer Nights in Paris

Seeing the Eiffel Tower light up at night seems to be on everyone’s travel bucket list. So much so that the idea of it can become a little cliche to some but certainly not to me. There’s nothing more spectacular than your first night in Paris watching the Eiffel Tower light up and sparkle it’s way into your heart. I was lucky enough to spend a summer living in the city where I had a nightly front row seat to moments like this. Looking back, especially in these difficult times I am even more grateful for the nights we spent basking in the glow of this iconic tower.

  • Alsace Wine Region in France

    Alsace Wine Region in France

The Alsace wine region in France looks like a scene plucked straight out of a fairytale. There are so many beautiful little towns in the area. The vineyards that surround them are nothing short of magical. One afternoon a few years back we set out on a mission to drive around and capture as many little towns as possible. We ended up in this particular vineyard at the suggestion of a local farmer. He shared his favorite spots with us and we were very grateful to him for that. I can still remember the warm sun and the smell of the grapes growing on the vines. Photography is a catalyst for so many adventures and I feel incredibly lucky that I get to do this for a living.

Awe Inspiring Photos | Night at the Louvre

Paris is one of the most famous cities in France and around the world. It's home to some of our planet’s best museums, monuments, restaurants and hotels. One such monument that has been drawing tourists for decades are the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame Cathedral which have all become icons synonymous with Parisian culture worldwide. I was fortunate enough to stay in the city for over two months and ever night seemed to be festival of lights. I found that my favorite part about visiting was being able to photograph some truly awe-inspiring photos of the Louvre Museum at night. Kodak Plus-X 125 35mm film is perfect for general purpose black and white photography. A good choice whether you are shooting outdoors or inside a studio, this film promises extremely fine grain and excellent sharpness. The production of Kodak's Plus-X was discontinued but you can still achieve that same look with Lightroom with a few simple clicks!

  • Moody Falls

    Moody Falls

While driving around Iceland we unexpectedly came across this beautiful waterfall just off the highway. When I saw it I instantly knew the shot that I wanted to capture. We parked and hiked our way through the the brush to get a closer look. The clear blue water cascading down from the jagged black rock was something truly magical to witness. I wanted a silky smooth look to the water so I used a 10 stop filter to get a long exposure. I composed the shot to include the mossy terrain to give it more depth and dimension. Photographing this place made us feel like we had jumped into a scene from The Lord of The Rings and it’s a memory that I won’t soon forget!

    Shapes and Shadows

Shapes and Shadows – There is something magical about this water-carved slot canyon in Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon is known for its amazing colors and how the light plays on the narrow sandstone walls. This area of the canyon has been highly photographed and draws a lot of tourism. If you get a chance to be alone, without a tour group running through you can capture some unique shapes and shadows... More Info https://goo.gl/vO41Nr

  • Starry Night in Switzerland

    Starry Night in Switzerland

HDR Photography “Starry Night in Switzerland” Here’s a shot that I took in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland! When our train rolled into town, I had a feeling of pure joy and excitement just thinking about all the shots that I could take! We quickly checked into our hotel and started taking photos. Apparently, we got lucky with the weather as we were told by the locals that it was the first clear day in over 2 weeks. Hearing that, I didn’t want to take any chances so I decided to keep photographing well into the night. When I came across this scene later that evening, I knew it was something special. The cozy little village is surrounded by mountains, rivers, and massive waterfalls…All the ingredients for a magical image! More: http://presetpro.com/hdr-photography-starry-night-in-switzerland/

    Colourful Sunrise

“Colourful Sunrise” – Here’s a photo that I took of Lake Huron in Northern Canada. It’s always great when you find a RAW file kicking around (circa 2011) that has yet to be processed! I found this one while cleaning up my hard drive and decided: “It’s time!” I’ve been playing with a new method of blending images together in Photoshop that I’m calling: “Blending Light.” The process makes images look more realistic and magical. More on “Blending Light” coming soon! http://presetpro.com/blending-light-hdr-photography-colourful-sunrise/

  • Blue Neon Cascade

    Blue Neon Cascade

This enchanted little waterfall seemed to be moving at the "perfect speed" naturally creating a smooth look to the rocks (of course the long exposure smoothed out the water even more) While post processing this image I decided to give the water a almost neon glow.

Warm Lights on a Rainy Night

Walking around the Petit-Chanmplain District in Old Quebec City at night was a real treat. I spent most of my time wandering around with a hot chocolate, soaking in the moment... I did have rain gear on so I was not literally soaked :) If you ever travel to Old Quebec and it's raining at night... throw on a poncho and take a stroll, It well worth it!
